Altered-Book Poetry: These poems are common in altered-book journals (see here). It is often easier for people to take inspiration from the text on the page than to create their own poems from scratch. It could be a cohesive poem or a mix words random that have meaning or stand out. Related art work is often incorporated into the page.
A transgender high schooler in Texas says his picture might be left out of his senior yearbook — all because he’s wearing a tuxedo.
Jeydon Loredo, a trans student, took his senior photo in a tuxedo like other guys typically do — but when school administrators found out about it, they told the photo studio to withhold the picture from the yearbook. Loredo appealed the decision to the school board with the help of HRC and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
“Please allow my community to remember me,” he said, “and to remember me the way I truly am, in the clothes that reflect me: Jeydon Laredo.”
The board met in a closed session over the matter and has yet to make a public statement about the decision on the yearbook photo.
“I’ve lived here my whole life, and I’ve grown up with the kids here,” Loredo said in a statement Wednesday. “I’ve seen those in my community go through troubles, and denying my tuxedo photo would be a way for the district to forget me and everything I’ve brought to this community. The yearbook is for the students, not the faculty or the administration. It is a way for us to remember each other.”
Are you KIDDING ME right now.
Renisha Mcbride was a 19 year old Black Girl from Michigan. On November 2nd, she was involved in a terrible car crash but survived. After the accident, she ran to the nearest house looking for help because her phone had died. She knocked on the front door and was shot in the face with a shotgun by the White Homeowner. After the murder, No Charges have been pressed against the White shooter and it is being called a justified Killing. Several Police officers and the Shooter’s lawyer have said that “He acted Properly” in shooting her. Don’t ever be fooled into believing that Racism is over.

Being afraid of black people should not stand as a legal defense in this country. It’s fucking insane that it does now.
